CORONADO WOMAN’S CLUB COROSCOPE - June 2010

As we bring to a close another “Club Year”, let us take a moment to look at the accomplishments of 2009-2010.  Thanks to our Board for a smooth-running calendar, great lunches and fellowship with friends.  Thanks to Program Chair Elizabeth Lenardi for a series of inspiring programs by outstanding women in our community.  We had a successful Holiday Bazaar and three profitable “Shredding Events.”  Our newsletter again won first place in our division.  We gave $2300 in philanthropy and will present a $3000 scholarship to a deserving CHS grad in June.  We also added five wonderful new members!  For this and much more, congratulations!  Betsy Vernetti

CREATIVE COOKERY
We’re going to meet a Marilyn Foster’s home at 770 F Ave for a “Surprise Lunch” at 11:30 AM on Friday, June 11.  Cost is $8.  RSVP to Connie Kinzler by Saturday, June 5.  Send her your check, make out to CWC, to 720 Coronado Ave. 92118.

TRAVEL & TREASURES 
This will be a no-charg luncheon held at the home of Helen Alexander, 1520 Maria Place, on Wednesday May 26 at 11:30 AM.  Please bring a salad for six.  Bloody Marys and dessert will be served.  Please call Jane Kaliff  or Clesi Neel by Monday, May 24 to reserve your spot.

EVENING SECTION  
The CWC Evening Section has met three times and is now planning a second outreach to the community.  At their May 12 meeting they made plans to join the Relay for Life – Cancer Society 24 hour walk July 31 at Glorietta Bay Park.  This will be an all club activity. (See below) The second point of business was to work on plans to prepare a dinner for 34 homeless women that come to Rachel’s House in downtown San Diego, scheduled for October 21, 2010.  Our next meeting is June 9, 2010, 6:30 pm , Pam Hannett’s house, 600 Balboa.  Please RSVP to Pam at 437-1247 and bring an hoirs d’oeurve to share.  Rachel’s House coordinatore, Toni Catlin, will speak.

RELAY FOR LIFE, CORONADO CANCER WALK.
A proposal is in the works that suggestys our CWC sign on as a “team” in the Julyl 31-Aug.1 Cancer Relay. This will involve manning a booth, bringing refreshments and sponsoring walkers (,e,bers, friends, family) throughout the day.  This has met with favorable response at the Board and two section meetings.  Since Cancer has affected so many of our members, families, and friends, this might be a good thing for us to support even though not too many could actually walk in the event.  More on June 2 and a chance to vote aye or nay.
