CORONADO WOMAN'S CLUB COROSCOPE - December 2009

RESIDENT'S MESSAGE --  Merry Christmas to all! I hope all of you are enjoying the warm feelings of the season, and the chilly weather!  Special thanks to all who contributed their time and donations to make our Holiday Bazaar a wonderful success by raising over $2300.  Our Craft section outdid themselves by selling $1100 of their homemade items.  Thanks to Diana Saxton for putting in
an extra day at our booth at Artisan's Alley.

If any of you or your family shop for books and other items online at Amazon.com , my GFWC News and Notes tells me that you can earn up to 15% of your total purchase to be donated to Federation volunteer projects. Just go online to Amazon.com Associates and follow directions to Amazon. Once you have done that you are registered for this service.

At the November meeting I encouraged everyone to think of a way to participate in our February Festival of Arts.  I am hoping that lots of you will bring in your handmade art, craft, writing or photo projects to display at our February meeting.  Share your talent!  I will remind you in January meeting again.  Also, please think about joining our Coronado table at the District Luncheon (only $12) on Feb.24.  A chance to get out of town with CWC friends.   Have a great holiday season. See you Jan.6!   Betsy Vernetti

SHREDDING EVENT -- Here is a great idea for a New Year's Resolution:  Get rid of all those old documents you've been hoarding by taking them to the Union Bank parking lot on January 23 for shredding, between 10 AM and 1 PM.  You'll have the peace of mind of knowing the information is safe while ridding yourself of objects occupying valuable storage space.  Call Pat Cooley (435-8227) for pick-up  or if you have questions.

JANUARY LUNCHEON PROGRAM -- The guest speaker for our January 6 program will be Leslie Crawford, recent Optimist Club president, who will speak abut her extensive experiences as a Coronado volunteer.  We need to have the meeting's  final head-count through Helen Alexander (435-6160) by Friday, January 1, 2010, five days before the meeting.  Send your$22.50 reservation check, made out to CWC, by January 1 to Helen at 1520 Maria Place.

JANUARY BIRTHDAYS-- Jody Nelson, 11th. and Ginna Stanley, 11th.

CREATIVE COOKERY -- We*re having a *Secret Destination* breakfast on Friday, January 8  so bring your best appetite for some good old fashioned victuals.  We*ll leave Vetter Park at 10 AM.  Drivers are needed.  Separate checks will be available.  Call Clesi Neel (656-4114) for reservations by Monday, January 4.  Bon appetit!

TRAVEL & TREASURES * On Wednesday, January 27, we*re heading for the History Museum at Balboa Park for a look at an amazing survey of supreme fashion owned by the San Diego Historical Society.  Entitled *San Diego Style,* the exhibit, curated by Timothy Long, includes designers Adrian, Pauline Trigere and Ralph Rucci. This is a must-see exhibit, if only for the close-to-lost art of couture craftsmanship.  The fee is only $4.  We*ll meet at 10 AM at Vetter Park for our easy-walking excursion.  Lunch will be at the Prado.  Drivers are needed. Call Jane Kaliff (435-5233) on or before January 22 for your reservation.

COURTESY -- Please call Clesi Neel (656-4114) if you know of a CWC member who needs a Sympathy, Get-well or Friendship card.  Your input is needed so we can keep in touch with our members to let them know we care.
